WATERshed Program - Volunteers Needed!
Consider these training dates: Monday, April 24 at 6pm and
Saturday, April 29th at 10am, at the Racine Zoo Beach. These are training dates for an opportunity to become a volunteer any day in May or early June to educate 7th graders from Racine Unified. The students take a field trip to the beach to learn all things water!
This is a great opportunity service to the community, education and our precious Great Lakes!
Nancy needs your help! Please consider volunteering and contact her with any questions!
GREEN Members at EcoFest 2017
Many schools participated in the EcoFest event at Gateway Technical College showcasing students' work, projects, and programs they offer. It was a great event for everyone!
"Naturing Our Children"
The Greater Racine Environmental Educators Network (GREEN) hosted an event at the Golden Rondelle Theater on Tuesday November 15, 2016.
The event focused on the benefits and positive results of students learning with nature in schools with the featured guest speaker Geoffrey Bishop (Nature and Ecology in Racine Schools). We then had a panel of speakers, also GREEN participants, that discussed their experience and work that represented a wide range of natural environmental educational offerings in the greater Racine area. Speakers included: Christopher Thompkins (Racine Unified School District) Rita Lewis (Racine Montessori School), Jeff Appenzeller (North Park Elementary School), Jamian Knuth (The 21st Century Preparatory School), Peter O’Shea (Walden III High School), Nancy Carlson (Watershed Program for 4th and 7th graders).
It was a very inspiring event to hear from everyone
GREEN Participants Meeting
The Greater Racine Environmental Educators Network (GREEN) is an eco-network for educators of all grade levels to share ideas about nature and ecology-related subjects. This is to help pursue implementing new ideas in the classroom. We were able to see a lot of interested educators and schools wanting to incorporate different aspects of science and nature. Please contact us if you're interested in joining this informal network or would like to attend a meeting!
